Civil status

Civil Status

The civil status functions carried out by the Consular Office are those provided for under Title II, Chapter I, of Legislative Decree No. 71/2011 (Organisation and functions of consular offices).

Unless otherwise indicated by staff of the Consular Office, the relevant services are provided only by prior appointment booked through the online scheduling system:
Home Page – Prenot@Mi

The relevant forms may be downloaded from the Embassy website in the “Forms” section: Forms – Ambasciata d’Italia Manila

Registration in Italy of Civil Status Records

In order to be validly registered in Italy, civil status records (birth, marriage, death) must be:

  1. registered with the Philippine civil registry (PSA – Philippine Statistics Authority);
  2. apostilled by the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs);
  3. translated into Italian (through professional translation services, some of which are listed on our website).

For further information regarding legalisation procedures, please consult the dedicated page on the website.

Thereafter, the interested parties or their authorised representatives, duly provided with a power of attorney, may attend the Embassy by appointment to request the registration of the record in Italy.

NB: prior to registering the record, the Consular Office is required to carry out specific checks with the Philippine authorities. The costs of such checks are entirely borne by the applicants, and waiting times—which may be lengthy—depend exclusively on the Philippine authorities.

IMPORTANT NOTEFor the recognition by the Philippine authorities of civil status records issued in Italy, it is necessary to contact the diplomatic and consular representations of the Republic of the Philippines in Italy.
