16-22 OCTOBER 2023 – XXIII ITALIAN LANGUAGE WEEK IN THE WORLD

The Italian Embassy in Manila is participating in the XXIII edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World dedicated to “Italian and Sustainability” with a series of initiatives aimed at promoting Italian language and raising awareness on environmental sustainability issues. A further focus of the event, promoted worldwide by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation through its diplomatic-consular network and under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, is the centenary birth anniversary of Italo Calvino (1923-1985), Italian author known for his visionary ecological literary works.

The Embassy of Italy in Manila will take part in this year’s edition with a series of events organised in collaboration with Societa’ Dante Alighieri-Comitato Manila, the Philippine Italian Association and universities:

October 18th: Masterclass on Italo Calvino “The eclectic nature of Italo Calvino”, De La Salle University.

October 20th: Masterclass on Italo Calvino “3 different ways to read Italo Calvino”, University of the Philippines Diliman.

Awarding ceremony for the video language competition “The words of sustainability”.

The promotional video realised for the 23rd edition narrates the learning and mastery of the Italian language as an instrument of personal growth and awareness of the self as part of the environment.

The Accademia della Crusca has produced a book dedicated to the theme of the Week of the Italian Language in the World.
