23rd ITALIAN LANGUAGE WEEK IN THE WORLD
The Week of the Italian Language in the World is an international cultural event, held every year in the third week of October, dedicated to the celebration of the Italian language in the world.
Organised by the diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes in collaboration with the main partners for language promotion abroad, the Week of the Italian Language in the World has become the most important event dedicated to the Italian language internationally. Since its institution in 2001, this event has been awarded each year High Patronage by the Presidency of the Republic.
The XXIII edition will be held from 16 to 22 October 2023 with the theme “Italian and Sustainability”, with the aim of promoting in the world, through the Italian language, the culture of sustainability and the image of Italy as a country in the avant-garde on environmental issues. The chosen theme is also in line with the centenary of the birth of Italo Calvino, author of the visionary ecologist thought, which falls on 15 October 2023.
For the 2023 edition, the programme of the Week of the Italian Language in the World will include a series of initiatives that will soon be publicised on this page, including a language video competition: “The words of sustainability”.
