COMMEMORATIVE BOOK: 75TH ANNIVERSARY
“Philippines-Italy Rising Together”
The official launch of the commemorative book celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Italy and the Philippines took place on August 7th with a gala dinner attended by over 280 guests, including members of the Filipino government, diplomatic corps, representatives from the business, cultural, and academic communities, Italian community, artists, and journalists. We extend our gratitude to G Production, Trevi Foundations Philippines Inc., and other sponsors for their collaboration in organizing the event.
This prestigious volume is divided into three main parts. The first part focuses on the activities of the embassy, particularly in recent years, covering political, economic, commercial, cultural, consular, and development cooperation aspects. It also includes contributions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, other national institutions, the Asian Development Bank, and the Italian-Filipino Chamber of Commerce. The second part, titled “In their own words,” features contributions from Italian and Filipino personalities across various sectors, sharing reflections and experiences that highlight the reasons binding them to the two countries. The final section of the book is dedicated to the figure of Antonio Pigafetta, who accompanied Magellan on the first circumnavigation of the globe and documented the customs and traditions of the archipelago in his travel diary.
