The Embassy is pleased to announce the 25th edition of Film Festival CINE EUROPA officially opening in Cebu City with online and on-site screenings of 30 films from all over Europe!
The Film Festival is organized annually by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines together with the EU Member States and the EU Cultural Institutes. La Vita Facile/Easy living, The Spiders’ Man and Sanremo are the three Italian films screened this year.
“La vita Facile”/Easy living presents an interesting look into a current topic: migration and inclusion. The setting is Ventimiglia, a border city between Italy and France that represents only a formal border within the dynamics of the EU. However, the reality is different due to the strict regulations of the migratory flow.
“The Spiders’ Man” is an Italian-Filipino co-production directed by Ruben Maria Soriquez. The movie is about brotherhood and family ties as two half-brothers (one of which is affected by Autism and Schizophrenia) and their American friend set about getting their lives back together when a group of thugs takes them hostage.
“Sanremo” is a Slovenian-Italian co-production. The title refers to the famous Italian music festival held in the city of Sanremo as well as the song “Non ho l’età” which reminds the protagonists a memoir of their youth. The movie gives a gentle and humane cinematic portrait of dementia and aging. Inside a nursing home, two residents always forget after each encounter and meet each other anew soon after.
All films are free of charge. For the onsite screenings, seats are given on a first come, first served basis. For the online viewing registration is required.
