The visa fee is linked to the “Quarterly Consular Exchange Rate” and is revised at the beginning of each quarter (1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October). The corresponding fees in local currency vary according to the consular exchange rate, which is updated quarterly and displayed at the Embassy’s offices.

Consular fees may be paid when the application is submitted, by cash, credit card or QR code.
The same payment methods apply to additional services provided by VFS, with the additional option of making payment online via the website when booking the appointment.
Visa fees are not charged to applicants belonging to any of the following categories:
- children under six years of age;
- pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers travelling for the purposes of study or educational training;
- third-country researchers travelling for the purposes of scientific research pursuant to Recommendation 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005, intended to facilitate the issue by Member States of uniform short-stay visas to third-country researchers travelling within the Community for the purposes of carrying out scientific research;
- representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 or under participating in seminars, conferences or sporting, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations;
- the following family members of EU/EEA citizens, when accompanying or joining the EU/EEA citizen, as defined by Directive 2004/38/EC and Legislative Decree No. 30/2007:
- the spouse;
- the partner with whom the EU citizen has contracted a registered partnership under the legislation of a Member State, where the legislation of the host Member State treats registered partnerships as equivalent to marriage and in accordance with the conditions laid down by the relevant legislation of the host Member State;
- direct descendants who are under 21 years of age or dependants, and those of the spouse or partner referred to in point (b);
- dependent direct ascendants, and those of the spouse or partner referred to in point (b);
- holders of diplomatic or official passports are also exempt.
No additional costs other than those listed above are payable by the visa applicant. The solicitation of money, for any purpose whatsoever, in exchange for promises of assistance or preferential treatment in obtaining a visa constitutes a serious breach of the law and is subject to criminal prosecution.
Services provided by the local external service provider (VFS Global Centre)
Should an applicant wish to make use of the outsourcing services provided by VFS Global Centre, additional charges may be payable on top of the fees referred to above and due to the Embassy, depending on any additional services requested.
