The second issue of the “Essays” call for applications has been published for the assignment of number 6 positions, reserved for German, English and French mother tounge translators for a one-month stay to be carried out in the month of July 2023 at the Fondazione Ugo da Como, located in Lonato del Garda (Brescia). This establishment will provide its facilities and guarantee accommodation and meals to each of the selected translators, 2 for each of the languages mentioned.
The aim of this agreement between the Fondazione Ugo da Como and Cepell is to encourage the translation of Italian books abroad. For this reason, the call poses as a requirement the existence of a publishing contract for the translation of an Italian non-fiction work in the candidate’s native language or, alternatively, an ongoing translation project.
During this residency period, a series of seminar meetings with writers, journalists, university professors, translators, editors and publishing house managers are planned, as well as a specific initiative in collaboration with the Goffredo and Maria Bellonci Foundation and the Premio Strega.
