MOVIEMOV ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL
PHILIPPINES – THAILAND
Italian cinema returns to Asia from March 27-31 with the 12th edition of the event.
The Moviemov Italian Film Fest, produced and organized by the Playtown Roma Cultural Association that brings Italian cinema to Southeast Asia, resumes today. The itinerant festival, started in 2010 thanks to the support of the Directorate General for Cinema of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration and with the Italian Embassies, the Philippine-Italian Association (PIA) and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), will be held from March 27 to 31 and will involve not only Asian audiences from the Philippines and Thailand but also schools and universities in the Philippines that have been working for some time with lectures and in-depth studies on Italian cinema.
The titles chosen for this 12th edition are: “Nostalgia” by Mario Martone, “La Stran strangeness” by Roberto Andò, “Ice” by Fabrizio Moro and Alessio De Leonardis, “Margins” by Niccolò Falsetti and Francesco Turbanti, “Princess” by Roberto De Paolis, “Drought” by Paolo Virzì and “Lord of the Ants” by Gianni Amelio.
The screenings will be further enriched by two days dedicated to discussions (March 30-31) with journalists, directors and performers of the films in competition and also visible in streaming from Italy thanks to the technical partnership with My Movies.
Students from University of the Philippines Piccola Italia (UP Piccola Italia), Lyceum of the Philippines University Cavite (LPU), MINT College, University of San Carlos, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan, De La Salle University, OF Montessori will also have the opportunity to interview the artists participating in the talks.
At the end of this edition, the winning film will be decided through online audience voting.
Among the artists who have already confirmed their attendance are Vinicio Marchioni lead in “Ice”, who will be at the festival along with director Alessio De Leonardis and producer Francesca Verdini, Leonardo Maltese, revelation actor of “Lord of the Ants”, Maurizio Lombardi performer of “Princess”, and Niccolò Falsetti for “Margins”.
