The Moviemov Italian Film Festival is a traveling showcase that aims to build a platform for the cultural and commercial promotion of the new Italian cinema abroad. It is organized by the Playtown Roma Cultural Association and is supported by the Directorate General for Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage
This year the event will host a tribute to Pinocchio, 140 years after the first appearance of the protagonist character of the children’s novel by Carlo Collodi, who initially published the first half of the work in installments, between 1881 and 1882, in the weekly periodical “Giornale per the children”.
The tribute will be a journey through books and cinema, with in-depth information and masterclasses, and will be realized thanks to the support of the Italian Embassy in Manila and the collaboration with PIA Philippine Italian Association and five Philippine universities: Xavier University (Cagayan), De La Salle University Bacolod (Institute of the Moving Image), De La Salle University Manila, Ateneo de Naga, College of St. Benilde School of Arts and Design, UP Diliman Film Institute.
This year, for the first time, Moviemov Italian Cinema Philippines will be organized in three different parts: Moviemov Showcase, with eight movies and a tribute to Pinocchio, on the occasion of its 140th anniversary; Moviemov Industry; and a Social Segment, with the screenings of the short movie Princess by Silvia Luzi and Luca Bellino.
The Festival will take place online, on the website https://www.mymovies.it/ondemand/moviemov/, from 1 to 6 February. The complete program of the event can be viewed at the following link: Final Program Moviemov 2021 .
