Marco CLEMENTE

 

     Ambassador Marco Clemente was born in Rome (Italy) on 29 June 1959. He graduated in 1984 from the Luiss University in Rome with a degree in Political Science.

     He joined the Diplomatic Service in 1984 and subsequently served in the following capacities:

  • Directorate General for Italians Abroad, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 1986-1987;
  • Second Secretary, Embassy of Italy in Canberra, 1987-1990;
  • Deputy Consul, Consulate General of Italy in Caracas, 1990-1994;
  • Directorate General for Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 1994-1999;
  • Consul General, Consulate General of Italy in Johannesburg, 1999-2003;
  • Ambassador, Embassy of Italy in Yerevan, 2003-2007;
  • Directorate General for Europe, 2007-2008
  • ;Diplomatic Counsellor of the Minister, Ministry of Defense, 2008-2011;
  • Inspector, Inspectorate General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2011-2012;
  • Ambassador, Embassy of Italy in Tallinn, 2012-2016;
  • Directorate General for Political Affairs and Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, 2016-2017;
  • Liaison Officer, 2018 Italian Presidency of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, 2017-2019;
  • Coordinator for the United Nations reform, Directorate General for Political Affairs and Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, 2019 to 2021.

     He commenced his tour of duty at the Embassy of Italy in Manila on 2 September 2021 as Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of the Philippines, Republic of Palau, Republic of Marshall Islands and to the Federated States of Micronesia.

     He has been conferred the Commander of the Order of Merit of the Republic in 2009

     Ambassador Marco Clemente is married and has a son.
