The Ambassador





Giorgio Guglielmino was born in Genova in 1957. He joined the Diplomatic service in 1984 after he graduated in Political Science from the University of Genova. His professional career with the Ministry started at the Center for Telecommunications and Encryption and then at the General Directorate for Political Affairs at the Ministry’s Headquarter in Rome.

In 1986 he was assigned at the Consulate General in London as First Vice Consul. He was transferred in 1989 to Nairobi where he served until 1994, and was consequently back at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to serve at the General Directorate for Political Affairs.

His career continued overseas, in Calcutta, where he was appointed as Consul General in 1996. In 2000 he moved to Buenos Aires where he served as First Counsellor for emigration and social affairs.

In 2004, he was back again in Rome at the General Directorate for Development Cooperation. In 2007, he returned to the Embassy of Italy in Buenos Aires where he served as Minister Counsellor (Deputy Head of Mission).

In 2010 he was appointed as Ambassador of Italy in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

From 2014 he was Inspector at the General Inspectorate of the Ministry and of the Offices overseas.

He arrived in Manila on 7 August 2017 to assume the position of Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of the Philippines.
