ITALIAN DESIGN DAY 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe quality that lights up. The energy of design for people and the environment.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

For the first time in its run, the splendid and extravagant Italian Design Day (IDD<\/strong>) was celebrated in the Philippines on 9 March 2023<\/strong> with a rich program of masterclass and gatherings with professors and students from the most prominent institutes of design and experts of the sector.<\/p>\n

The event organized in collaboration with the Philippine Italian Association<\/strong> and Homestudio Inc<\/strong>, luxurious Italian furniture\u00a0showroom, highlighted sustainable and environment-friendly designs to celebrate the quality of Italian design that matter for the planet and for the people.<\/p>\n

MASTERCLASS<\/p>\n

Renowned designers from the fields of Product<\/strong> and Interior Design<\/strong>, Architecture<\/strong> and Fashion<\/strong> led four masterclasses in the day activities at the showroom of Homestudio. More than 130 students and professors from various universities and institutes of design of the Philippines attended to the masterclass equipping themselves with new learnings and approaches to designing.<\/p>\n

Ilaria Bianchi<\/strong><\/span>, Italian multidisciplinary designer with a strong interest for sustainable design, was selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as the testimonial of Italian Design 2023 in the Philippines. In her masterclass entitled \u201cDesigning and deciphering the language of the objects\u201d, Ilaria shared her process of designing and crafting her works combining design and craftsmanship with particular emphasis on sustainability.<\/p>\n

Filipino fashion designer with a Master in New Tech-Style Design at the Politecnico di Milano, Christine Cheryl Benet<\/strong> <\/span>facilitated a masterclass in \u201cGlobal Futures: Moving Towards Sustainable Fashion\u201d discussing the new fashion trends, namely how the sustainability thinking affect the manufacturing and merchandising of fashion designs.<\/p>\n

Multi-awarded Italian architect and businessman Romolo Nati<\/strong><\/span>, well-known for his projects of green buildings and renewable energy, talked about \u201cItalian Design and sustainable development in the Philippines\u201d, namely passive green cities and reducing of the impact on the environment through responsibly-sourced and completely renewable materials and resources.<\/p>\n

AWARDING CEREMONY<\/p>\n

Culminating the Italian Design Day 2023 was an evening gathering with more than one hundred guests from the diplomatic community, the Government (\u201cDesign Centre of the Philippines<\/strong>\u201d) and leading figures of the world of design. Twenty-three distinguished designers from different fields were recognized for excellence and impact in the industry, and were awarded by Ambassador Marco Clemente<\/strong> and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
