{"id":5409,"date":"2025-07-10T11:08:51","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T03:08:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambmanila.esteri.it\/?page_id=5409"},"modified":"2025-07-10T11:10:45","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T03:10:45","slug":"recognition-of-italian-citizenship-under-special-laws","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ambmanila.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-straniero\/cittadinanza\/recognition-of-italian-citizenship-under-special-laws\/","title":{"rendered":"Recognition of Italian Citizenship under Special Laws"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Law No. 379 of 14 December 2000 provides for the recognition of Italian citizenship in favor of individuals born and residing in the territories of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, as well as their descendants, provided that they meet the necessary requirements.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for submitting applications under Law 379\/2000 expired on 19 December 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Law No. 124 of 8 March 2006 allows for the recognition of Italian citizenship to compatriots who lost it due to residing in Istria, Fiume, and Dalmatia between 1940 and 1947.<\/p>\n<p>Recognition of citizenship based on these special laws constitutes acquisition of citizenship by operation of law (<em>beneficio di legge<\/em>).
